Every year the brent geese fly in to Strangford Lough from Northern Canada. The folk who live beside the lough count them as they arrive, we who live near the lough travel to see them, to welcome them back like old friends.
And I saw some other friends too - the red squirrels at Mount Stewart:

Your brent geese look a lot like the Canada geese that are here, only without the white cheek patches. I wonder if they sound the same as they are getting ready to fly out - that always seems to take a lot of discussion...
